The journey of birth is one of the biggest events in life, and couples are increasingly embracing the value of having these amazing moments captured by a professional birth photographer.
If you want to witness and immortalise:
The love and support you are provided in labour,
the order of events,
the beauty of your child's emergence into the world,
what it looks like when a man becomes a father,
what it looks like when you first meet your child,
the important little details and features of your fresh little baby,
your first time nourishing your baby outside your womb...
... then you really need your birth professionally photographed!
Why do parents do this? Because they want to bask in the celebration, the hormones, the joy, the challenges, the time of intense growth and awakening. What most people don't realise is the true value of this photography, is in the eye's and heart's of their children. When your child has grown into an adult, and they announce their own pending journey into parenthood, imagine the re-connection when you hand them the photo book of their own arrival into the world. Many client's include their birth stories and written wishes for their children's lives, which I intertwine within the images of their Album.
Their story of birth into the world holds more value than you can imagine to your children. Whether it's your son, who will witness what becoming a father looks like, the unconditional love and sense of protection he is flooded with, and the admiration he has for his partner. Or your daughter, who will witness the right of passage, the birth of a mother, and the instinctual way our bodies, hearts and minds culminate on this pivotal day in our lives.
There is no one more qualified and experienced in this genre within Australia, than Victoria Berekmeri. With incredible sensitivity, Victoria will work along side you to capture the precious details and story as it unfolds. She will hold the space and navigate the experience of pregnancy, labour, and post partum with you, as a member of your support crew.
MORE BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY DETAILS
Before securing your birth photography booking, it's important we meet and get to know one another, as well as to discuss your unique journey and expectations. This meeting generally occurs at a mutually agreed location such as, your home, a coffee shop, or even at a hospital café. It's sometimes convenient to have these appointments directly before an antenatal appointment, of an evening when you and your partner may both be available, or any time that's most convenient to you.
Victoria provides 24/7 on-call coverage for the weeks surrounding your due date, to ensure flexibility to attend your birth at any time, day or night. Victoria also has hand picked back-up photographers on standby if you so desire, to safeguard coverage of your event. Back-up photographers are very rarely required, but are an important aspect of providing this professional service.
Documentary coverage of labour, delivery and post-partum stages, are customised to tell your unique story at home and hospital locations. Generally, documentation will begin once labour is considered “established” up until 2 hours post delivery. Every birth is different however, and timing is very flexible.
The documentation of birth in the hospital setting is subject to hospital policy and staff permission. You will be provided with letters to forward onto your care-provider indicating your request for professional birth photography. It’s important for care-providers to see that birth photography is a consumer driven service, and valued as a birth choice.
In the event of a Caesarean Section, photographic documentation can not be guaranteed and is subject to hospital and staff approval. Certain hospitals and care-providers are more accepting of birth photography in theatre than others. It’s important to discuss this issue prior to booking photography.
While you enjoy your post-partum bubble, you’ll receive a short announcement slideshow featuring selected images from your birth journey, to share online within 3 days of your shoot.
Within around 2 weeks of your child's birth, Victoria will email you a special slideshow viewing of your digital collection. This is a special slideshow put to music, of your entire collection of photographs captured, which you can download. It is highly recommended you grab yourself a cuppa, your significant others, and a box of tissues, while you all witness the slideshow on your TV, snuggled up together on the couch.
Once you are ready to place your final order, you will be granted access to your online gallery and store where you can purchases your digital collections / prints / albums / cards. Remember, if you are purchasing an album, you will receive the Web Ready Digital Collection for each session you include in any given album. You can of course include multiple shoots into one album and if you'd like to include your own words along side the photography, Victoria can support your way forward with this.
Below is an example of the birth announcement slideshow, which is perfect for sharing on social media to announce the news of your baby's arrival. Thank you to Amanda and Jarrad for allowing me to share their slideshow!
"Why Victoria … well with a reputation as the best in the business I knew she was the one to capture a photographic journal of the intensity and beauty of the much anticipated vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) of my daughter Chloé.
Victoria understood and respected my birthing wishes and whilst I barely noticed her presence in the labour room she somehow managed to capture the most raw and deeply personal images of my efforts and emotions on the day. From labour to crowning to those first precious bonding moments, Victoria captured it all.
Through her pictures I’ve been able to piece together my birth story with details that I simply wouldn’t have remembered had it not been for photographs showing the journey that I went through. The slideshow continues to bring tears of joy to my eyes. I am eternally grateful and will treasure these images forever."
